High on the hill and down on the water, Part 1

Apr 30, 2024,00:02 AM

We drove to a park we'd never visited before, and were quite charmed by the first few sights. Such as this rock / succulent arrangement right at the sidewalk,

and a bunch of bananas (not quite ripe enough),

and a gorgeous flower. Does it say TROPICAL loudly enough?

Then we were faced with a question? Can a crow be pigeon-toed? Instead of flying, this guy was walking down the sidewalk, looking into bushes and under clumps of grass. He finally flushed out some bug which flew up, but not fast enough to evade Mr. Crow.

We walked up through the kiddie park and onto a bike path, as shown here.

The blooms are intense. The bees are busy, loud and happy.

Note the spider on the cactus pad, under the flower...

Ouch is all I could think when I saw these backlit cactus glowing in the morning light.

Why is a bench in this lonely spot?

To maximize the view!

We ambled on the path briefly,

then headed up the hill on a dirt track.

The view improved and the early morning marine layer dissipated.

Others were observing the ocean view as well.

The larger lizard puffed himself up and started doing push-ups (to scare away intruders)

The other one flattened down to be less conspicous.

We left them alone, descended to the path and continued southward.

More flowers and more bees!

We crossed this bridge when we came to it, without burning it (English language slang / pun)

TOO MANY.

TOO TALL

TOO FRAGRANT

TOO STEEP & TOO HOT

TOO DOGS

TOO INTERESTED TO FLY AWAY

We turned around, went down to the street, and to our iPhone exercise tracker, added a few more steps:

Checking out the houses on the way

When we have an old house, we put up with a lot, like steep driveways, grim facades, ornery plantings, etc.

We jumped in the car and headed to the ocean. Please join us for part 2, Down on the Water.

The surf culture in SD must be lively and robust šŸ˜Ž

Oh yes, we have surfers and wanna be surfers galore

Iā€™m a used-to-be, wanna-be surfer but actually I prefer body surfing ā€¦ more swimming less paddling and no boards messing up my cars.

Great pics Mike! A trip down memory lane for me. I've also noticed that blue wrapped Cyber Truck and have taken numerous breaks at that cement bench on that elevated

We'll be visiting there in June. Friends are in Coronado.

Coronado is beautiful

Beaches surrounding it, and lovely homes. A nice place to visit with a smaller-town feel. My mom lived there for 6-7 years.
